Casa Milà, also known as La Pedrera, is one of Antoni Gaudí’s most important works in Barcelona.
Its stone façade looks like a wave flowing gently along Passeig de Gràcia. There are almost no straight lines. Everything seems to move.
When it was built, many people considered it strange and controversial. Today, it is recognized as one of the great masterpieces of Catalan modernist architecture.

What to look at
Start with the façade. Notice the movement of the stone and the wrought-iron balconies, which look almost like natural forms.
Then look at the rhythm of the windows and the curves. The building feels alive, as though it had been shaped by wind and time.
If you visit the rooftop, pay special attention to the chimneys. They look like silent warriors watching over the city.
The rooftop is one of the most memorable parts of the building, offering views of Barcelona and a strong sculptural character.
Practical tip
La Pedrera is very close to Casa Batlló, so you can visit both buildings during the same walk along Passeig de Gràcia.
Even if you only see it from the outside, cross the street and look at the entire façade from a short distance.
The building is not about one single detail. Its beauty comes from the movement and harmony of the whole structure.
